The soap saver bag to date is one of my favourite products. Behind it, there is so much magic beyond its intended purpose.
In this post I'm going to share with you the creation process from start to finish with how the soap-saver bag came to be. There are many ways a product can come to light, but here is just how this story happened to unfold.
I began attending markets in 2024, and one that I frequented was the Elmira Farmers Market. From August to October, I was there almost every weekend—weather permitting. One of these weekends, a local crochet artist, Alyssa, had her booth set up. She and her mom tended to the display while customers happily came in and out, leaving with cute, handmade items every time. I'm a sociable person, so going over was a must after seeing how cute her display was. I loved her little chunky cats, flowers, and other little critters she had lined up. Later on, she also came by my table and ended up purchasing my Lavender Escape bar.

July 9, 2024 - Alyssa created her own bag for her bar of soap and shared it with me.
Once I saw this bag, I knew right away that I wanted one for Cedar & Earth Co.! I pitched the idea to her, and she loved it. We got talking about the qualities the bag should have.
Using yarn she had, Alyssa crocheted a mock-up bag. I loved the design right away, and thought there weren't any changes needed! I created a mockup after in a photo editor of what I would like the final creation to look like. My inspiration was my branding, of course!

We both searched online for the perfect yarn. Every time we'd find something new, we'd send it to each other. I looked into each place's practices, certifications, and more to see if it was something I aligned with and fit my brand. We eventually settled on the perfect yarn after emailing the company and getting more information.
While waiting for the new yarn to arrive, I began creating the mockup of the tag I wanted on the bag. This is one of the mockups, and the other photo is of the size of the tag compared to the bag Alyssa made.

August 9, 2024 the yarn arrived! It was finally time to begin creating. Alyssa then found some beautiful wooden beads that we talked about previously to add to the bags.

Finally, with all the materials needed, Alyssa put the final bag together while we waited on the last piece of the puzzle, the tags!

On September 3rd, 2024, after what felt like forever, the tags finally arrived! The bags could finally be finished!
But that's not the end. There were still product photos to take and edit, the listing to create, and a little interview to be had! Once a few were finished, I was able to do those things along with start taking feedback from the community with a soft launch at my markets. People seem to really love the buttery feel of these bags!

The final bag was created, and I was in love. Here are a few pictures of the finished product. To say I am proud is an understatement. These bags really are a high-quality item I know you will love.
A huge thanks to Alyssa (@creationsby_alyssa) for being a super partner every step of the way. Our story isn't done yet, though — we have more exciting things planned for you guys!
